Background

Barbara Kennedy is an Assistant Professor in the College of Health and Human Services, School of Nursing at California State University – Dominguez Hills (CSUDH).  She has been a full-time faculty member at this institution since August, 2001.

Dr. Kennedy received her Doctorate in Nursing from Case Western Reserve University, Ohio.  She received a Master of Nursing degree from UCLA as well as a Master of Education from Adelphi University in New York.  She holds a Bachelor of Nursing Science from Mount Saint Mary’s College in Los Angeles and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Bethany College, West Virginia.  She is a nationally certified family nurse practitioner and has provided primary and specialized HIV/AIDS healthcare in Los Angeles for more than 10 years. She is certified as an HIV/AIDS care specialist by the Association of Nurses in AIDS (ANAC).

Dr. Kennedy brings to the classroom many years of clinical experience from the acute and primary health care settings as well as a strong clinical background in public health, nursing theory, and research.  She is an appointed member of the Institutional Review Board (IRB) of for the department of Research and Funded Projects at CSUDH.

In  conjunction with her clinical and research work at CSUDH, Dr. Kennedy also serves as Clinical Faculty for the Nursing Center for Learning, Innovation, and Research, Department of Veterans Affairs, Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System, Los Angeles, California (VAGLAHS).  Dr. Kennedy also serves as an appointed member of the Institutional Review Board (IRB) at this institution.
