Adds | Drops


ADDS (beginning May 28, 2024)

For: Students who have already registered but who wish to add additional classes

To add a course before the start of the session, refer to registration dates.

To add a course after the start of the session, obtain a Late Registration Permission Number from the instructor of the course or signature. Go to MyCSUDH and register using this number. The number can only be used for the specific course that it is assigned to and can only be used once by the expiration date.

Appropriate signatures are needed and you must register in person or via phone if one or more the following exist:

  1. if you are attempting to exceed max hours;
  2. if there is a time conflict;
  3. if there are issues regarding co-requisites

An advisor's signature of approval is required on the Change of Program Form to Exceed Approved Max. hour limit.

Six-week courses may be added during the first week of the session. Students wishing to add an Intensive of one week or fewer may only add on the first day of class. For two- to three-week courses, students may only add during the first two days; for four- to five-week courses, students may only add during the first week of the course.

Dates:

  • Regular Session: May 28—June 18, 2024
  • Session 1: May 29—June 4, 2024
  • Session 2: July 6—July 13, 2024

The deadline for adding courses is June 18, 2024 for Regular Session; June 4, 2024 for  Session 1; and July 13, 2024 for Session 2. Provided that you are enrolled in a summer session course at the time you choose to add an additional course, you will not be charged a late fee. Students may exchange one class for another within the same session without penalty, if the unit and fee value are the same.

DROPS AND SCHEDULE REVIEW

For: Students who have already registered but who wish to check their schedule or drop class(es).

Dates:

  • Regular Session: June 18, 2024
  • Session 1: June 11, 2024
  • Session 2: July 19, 2024

Office Hours: Same as Late Registration

Signatures: No signature is required to drop during the drop with refund period. Dept. approval is required to drop remedial English and math courses during the drop without "W" grade period.

Fees:

Fees will be refunded by mail, automatically if dropping class will result in a change of fees. Drops must take place during the period to drop with refund.

Non-attendance in class, notifying the instructor, or stopping payment on a check does NOT officially constitute dropping or withdrawing from a course. Before the session start date, students may drop a class via MyCSUDH, via email (ceereg@csudh.edu), via Fax (310-516-3971), or in person.  

DROPPING A COURSE OR COMPLETE WITHDRAWAL FROM SUMMER TERM

Once the session starts, the CCPE Registration Office must be notified in writing and appropriate forms must be filed to drop or withdraw from a class.

If you decide to drop a course before the start of a class, a Course Drop/Withdrawal Form must be used. The form can be emailed to ceereg@csudh.edu, or printed and dropped off in-person at the College of Continuing and Professional Education Registration Office, EE-1100.

Drops and complete withdrawals may be processed via MyCSUDH prior to the session.

You must drop all classes by May 27, 2024 to receive 100% refund for Summer Session 1 and the Regular Summer Session (less a $10 processing fee).

You must drop all classes by July 5, 2024 to receive 100% refund for Summer Session 2 (less a $10 processing fee).

Drops During the First Two Weeks of the Session...

Students may drop or withdraw from any six-week course prior to and during the first two weeks of a session without record of enrollment or "W" on transcript, and without instructor's signature. Continuing students may drop from six-week (or longer) courses during this period via MyCSUDH.

Non-CSUDH students may email the Course Drop/Withdrawal Form to ceereg@csudh.edu or drop off the form in-person at the College of Continuing and Professional Education Registration office, EE-1100.

Drops During the Third through Fifth Weeks of the Session...

During the third and until the final week of the six-week session, the instructor's and the school dean's (or associate dean's) signatures are required on the Change of Program form in order to drop. Non-CSUDH students need the signatures of the instructor and the dean of the College of Continuing and Professional Education. Drops or complete withdrawals during this period may be processed in-person or emailed with all required signatures to ceereg@csudh.edu. Students must use the Change of Program (Add/Drop/Withdrawal) Form.

Drops During Final Week of Instruction (Serious and Compelling Reasons Only)...

Students dropping during the final week of instruction must withdraw using a Petition for Exception form. Students must obtain instructor, department chair and college dean approval. The form must be filled out completely and include an explanation stating the reason for the withdrawal. The deadline is July 8 for Session 1, and August 19 for both the Regular Session (12 weeks) and Session 2.

Dropping One-Week Courses...

On the first day of the week of the session, a student may withdraw and no grade is assigned; the enrollment does not appear on the student’s transcript. Drops or complete withdrawals may be processed via MyCSUDH during this period.

A grade of "W" will be assigned if a student withdraws at any time after the first day of the week and signatures of the instructor and school dean are required. Students dropping once the class begins must withdraw using a Petition for Exception form. Students must obtain instructor, department chair and college dean approval. The form must be filled out completely and include an explanation stating the reason for the withdrawal.

Dropping Two-Week Courses...

During the first three days of the first week, a student may withdraw, and no grade is assigned; the enrollment does not appear on the student’s transcript. A grade of "W" will be assigned if a student withdraws at any time after the first three days of the first week and signatures of the instructor and school dean are required. Students dropping after the first three days of instruction must withdraw using a Petition for Exception form. Students must obtain instructor, department chair and college dean approval. The form must be filled out completely and include an explanation stating the reason for the withdrawal.
